California Finger Limes -- a spectacular, versatile fruit

California finger limes, Australian finger limes, caviar limes, microcitrus australasica--- they are all names for a fabulous little citrus fruit, a native of Australia. Ours are California Finger Limes because they are grown in California! They belong to the citrus family but they aren’t limes—they’re called that because when you bite into the fruit vesicles (the little cells that look like caviar) you get a burst of delightfully tart limey flavor. Their crisp pop in your mouth adds an entirely new dimension to your food. They're called finger limes because the big ones are similar in size and shape to your index finger.

Finger limes pair beautifully with a wide variety of foods and greatly enhance surrounding flavors. Their lively texture will surprise you. Squeeze the little vesicles out of the shell and use them fresh in hundreds of ways.

Hint: Always cut across the fruit and squeeze out the little vesicles with your fingers.

Your imagination is the only limitation!

Try our finger limes with:

Avocado, papaya, mango

Fig Tree Farms does not grow figs. It is named for a large Moreton Bay Fig Tree, another native of Australia, that has been a local landmark for over 100 years.
